How do I calculate how many tiles I need?
Multiply the room length by width to get the area, then divide by the area of one tile and add a wastage percentage. This calculator does that automatically and rounds up to whole tiles and boxes.
What wastage percentage should I use for tiles?
For normal straight lay flooring, 5% is standard. For diagonal patterns, large format tiles or walls with many cuts, use 10–15%. This calculator lets you set the exact wastage.
How many boxes of tiles are needed for a 12x10 ft room?
A 12x10 ft room is 120 sqft. With 600x600 mm tiles (3.875 sqft each) and 5% wastage, you need about 33 tiles, which is 9 boxes if there are 4 tiles per box.
